Natural Gray Wensleydale wool - carded cloud prep - hand spinning & felting wool

100% Wensleydale wool in natural colored gray - staple length is +4 inches.

This bag of spinning bliss is carded, silky soft, long locks of Wensleydale wool all washed with biodegradable soap, carded without chemicals or oils and ready for you to spin. 

Spinners accustomed to commercial combed top, which can be dense and require significant predrafting, will likely find this carded preparation easy to spin. Biotayarns' carded wool blends are made by feeding washed wool (and other fibers) into a carding mill that opens up the locks, removes vegetable matter and passes it through several carding rollers that card the fibers but do not align the fibers parallel as in combed top. The wool you spin directly from this cloud will make a beautiful woolen yarn, the same as is spun from wool roving.  Beautiful long draw spinning with this fleece! 

This beautiful, healthy sheep fleece (Wensleydale Lost Tag) is raised by a shepherd dedicated to the fiber arts and to their fiber animals. At Cactus Hill Farm, the sheep are raised on certified organic pastures and hay but sheep and wool is not certified as such. 

All of the fibers have been carefully sheared, washed and carded using ecologically safe soaps.
